During summer weekends the city hosts between 320,000 and 345,000 vacationers, and up to 8 million visitors annually according to the Ocean City, MD government Comprehensive Plan, but only a few thousand call Ocean City home.
The children are back to school and the tourists have returned to their normal lives. With 3 weeks of Summer left, the Second Season has begun! Calm is restored and the peaceful beaches call to the locals. Ocean City and the surrounding areas provide hidden treasures once again filled with locals.
Throughout the Second Summer, locals enjoy the best of the beaches with mild winds and the warmest waters of the year. Air temperatures average from the 80s in September to low 70s in October, with water temperatures in the mid-70s. This combination creates ideal beach and water conditions.
Our favorite beaches:
- Ocean City – 10 miles of serene beach
- Assateague Island National Park – Filled with nature trails, wild ponies, and other wildlife
- Stinky Beach – Idyllic, simple beach loved by the locals
The Boardwalk crowds lesson and the bicycles return. Idyllic moments of Ocean City propagate. As the hustle and bustle of tourist season dies down, the locals return to the small-town feel.
